A brief History of Uhavta Pony Stud

Breeding quality ponies and Galloways suited to all disciplines.

Uhavta originated in Tempy (near Ouyen) in Victoria. We then moved to Swan Hill in the early 1990s and re-established the stud there.  This has made it a lot easier travelling to studs, veterinary clinics and shows.

Our grandfather trained thoroughbreds (Helen still does so now with good success). Therefore the horse have been in our blood for years.

Our whole family supports our interest in horses:- from our brothers growing feed, parents providing assistance and our partners continued enthusiasm and help to keep the farm going.

We only breed a limited number of ponies each year, so that we can try to give all of them a start to their showing career as young stock.

UHAVTA Thoroughbred's

Uhavta stables emerged after our grandfather passed away, the late 'Curly' Burns and the UWANTA stables of Tempy-Victoria.

As we still had the horses we had to send them off to be trained. They were sent to Mr Pat Courtney at Flemington and to Ducky Smith of Swan Hill. It was then decided that Helen would get he trainers licence which she did with the support of all her family.

Helen has done and will continue to make her grandfather proud with the successes that Uhavta racing stables has produced and will continue to do so for many yeas to come.

Helen still uses her grandfather’s racing colors Green, gold checks, purple sleeves and gold cap.
